What is fragile skin?
With age, the skin becomes thinner and more fragile. When you pinch and pull your skin lightly between two fingers, the crease takes time to disappear. The epidermis ist more sensitive, it loses volume and resistance capacity in the face of external attacks. A fragile skin is skin that loses its hydration and his elasticity. In cause?- Changes hormonal :
- The predisposition genetic ;
- The slowdown of metabolism : over time, production hyaluronic acid, which naturally gives elasticity and volume to the skin, decreases;
- THE UV rays, air pollution, nicotine consumption and alcohol consumption: they cause free radicals qwhich lead to oxidative stress on the skin. This accelerates the skin aging by damaging parts of the connective tissue.
Over time, the top layer of skin is less irrigated, receiving less moisture, oxygen and nutrients. But that's not all: the number and density of the dermal papillae decrease: they are in a way pillars of support between the upper and middle layers of the skin, and which are responsible for nourishing the skin.
How does our skin age?
To understand why the skin becomes fragile, we need to understand how it changes with age.
The first changes are observed from 30 years : the skin dehydrated more and more and small fine lines appear, as well as the first wrinkles, particularly on the forehead and eyes.
Towards 40 years, the skin gradually loses its elasticity and its volume, and needs more and more time to regenerate.
From 50 years, the skin becomes noticeably refined. We sometimes also see the appearance of pigment spots, on the face and hands.
At the age of 60 years, THE rides become deeper, redness appear, and the loss of skin elasticity becomes even more significant.
From the age of 70, the skin heals less quickly: it is increasingly fragile, more reactive to aggression and the environment.
