Understanding the Causes of Enlarged Pores
There are several factors that can cause the appearance of dilated pores:
- Excessive sebum production: when the sebaceous glands produce too much sebum, the pores can become clogged and enlarged;
- An accumulation of dead cells: the dead cells that accumulate on the surface of the skin clog the pores, making them more visible;
- Age: over time, the skin loses its elasticity, which can contribute to the widening of pores;
- UV rays: prolonged exposure to the sun weakens the tissues around the pores and causes permanent dilation;
- Genetic factors: some people naturally have more visible pores.
Natural solutions to reduce enlarged pores
Cleanse your skin morning and evening
Thorough cleansing is essential to prevent pore blockage. Use a cleanser morning and night to remove sebum, impurities, and dead skin cells.
"Favor products containing active ingredients such as salicylic acid or activated charcoal, known for their ability to deeply cleanse pores. Papain, a natural exfoliant, also helps to smooth and even out your complexion. The Grangettes Switzerland purifying gel will take care of your skin day after day."

Take steam baths
Steam baths help to open the pores and dislodge impurities. For a complete treatment, you can add a few drops of tea tree essential oil, which has purifying properties.
Instructions: place your face over a bowl of hot water for 5 to 10 minutes, then rinse with cold water to tighten the pores.

Use natural masks
Homemade masks made from natural ingredients can regulate sebum production and reduce the appearance of pores:
-
Clay mask: green or white clay absorbs excess sebum and purifies the skin;
-
Egg white and lemon mask: the egg white tightens the pores while the lemon acts as a natural astringent.
Hydrate your skin properly
Well-hydrated skin is less prone to excessive sebum production. Choose a non-comedogenic moisturizer to avoid clogging pores. If you have sensitive skin, the Grangettes soothing cream is an essential ally. Formulated with hyaluronic acid, squalane, allantoin, and betaine, it deeply hydrates your skin. The vitamin B12, on the other hand, works to balance sebum production for clear skin.

The right cosmetic gestures against enlarged pores
Avoid comedogenic cosmetics
To avoid enlarged pores, turn to non-comedogenic cosmetics. Indeed, comedogenic products contain ingredients that tend to clog pores: this is particularly the case with heavy oils or waxes. This can trap sebum, impurities, and dead skin cells, leading to blackheads, pimples, and even more enlarged pores.
Furthermore, when a pore is clogged, the sebaceous glands can produce even more sebum to compensate. This fuels a vicious cycle, in which the pores become more visible and the skin appears oilier.

Note that pores clogged by comedogenic cosmetics can cause inflammations, especially if bacteria like Propionibacterium acnes (involved in acne) develop there. This can worsen imperfections and give the skin an uneven appearance.
Finally, the use of comedogenic products creates a barrier on the skin: this limits the effectiveness of specific treatments intended to tighten pores or regulate sebum.
Pore-reducing serums and creams
Serums and creams containing niacinamide are very effective in reducing the appearance of pores. This active ingredient limits excess sebum, promotes cell renewal, and improves skin texture.
Also look for formulations containing peptides: this ingredient stimulates the production of collagen, improves skin elasticity, and tightens pores in the long term.
You can also turn to plant extracts such as horsetail, green tea or rosemary: they have astringent properties that tighten pores and soothe the skin.
Mattifying creams
Mattifying creams reduce shine and give the skin a more even appearance. They are particularly useful for oily skin.
Dermatological solutions for a lasting result
For visibly reduced pores, certain dermatological interventions offer lasting results. This is particularly the case with chemical peels based on acids (glycolic acid, lactic acid): they deeply exfoliate the skin and stimulate collagen production. This tightens the pores while improving the skin's radiance.
Microneedling can also be effective. This technique involves creating micro-perforations in the skin to stimulate collagen production. It visibly improves skin texture and reduces pore size.
